Lucknow boy, Karachi girl want to get married. This is how Home Ministry is trying to ensure it happens

Wedding of a Pakistani girl and Lucknow-based boy is just a step away. They are scheduled to get married on August 1. But, there is one big problem. The girl has not yet been able to get a visa from the Indian authorities in Pakistan. However, the couple can now see some hope with and are hoping that things may change for good.

As per a report in the Times of India, the Home Ministry has extended an olive branch after the officials said that they will try to ensure that it happens. An official from the Home Minister Office (HMO) said, “The couple should not lose hope. We will make all efforts to get the issue sorted. The details will have to be looked into”.

The wedding of 25-year-old, Karachi-based Sadia was fixed with 28-year-old Syed Shariq Hashmi who hails from Lucknow in 2012. They are distant relatives and their match was fixed by the families. Sadia has visited India fives times in the past.

The Indian High Commission had earlier turned down Sadia and her parents’ visa to India. She had said: “I’m suffering a lot. The High Commission rejected my application twice, but no explanation was provided. We’ve been trying to get a visa since the past one year.”

As per Sadia, she has been denied visa because of the tension between the two countries. She had also tweeted out to External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj conveying her concerns. However, she is yet to get a reply from the minister.

Meanwhile, Syed is now happy that the Home Ministry has intervened and assured that all efforts will be done to get the issue sorted. “We really want our case to be pursued and it feels great to know the HMO is taking a personal interest.
