Leh Gets Its Longest Suspension Bridge Over Indus, Courtesy: Indian Army

It was built in a record time of 40 days.

Maitri bridge, the longest suspension bridge over river Indus in J&K’s Leh district was opened to the public on April 1. The bridge was inaugurated in the presence of retired war veterans led by Naik Phunchok Angdus (retd). The 260-foot cable suspension bridge was built in a record time of just 40 days by Combat Engineers of Fire and Fury Corps.

Maitri bridge symbolises friendly relations between the public and the Indian Army. Built after repeated requests from locals
of Choglamsar, Stok and Chuchot village, this bridge is expected to improve the connectivity between these villages.
