IPL’s Youngest Player Is Juggling International Cricket With Board Exams

Royal Challengers Bangalore’s Prayas Ray Barman is juggling IPL matches with his 12th CBSE boards. The teen from West Bengal made headlines after becoming the youngest debutant of the Indian Premier League (IPL) at 16. Earlier, this record was held by Afghanistan spinner Mujeeb Ur Rahman, when he played for Kings XI Punjab in IPL 2018 at the age of 17.

Captain Virat Kohli picked the leg-spinner to play against Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Sunday’s match at the Rajiv Gandhi stadium in Hyderabad.

Sunrisers Hyderabad however won with a massive 118-run margin, with Prayas went wicket-less and conceded 56 runs in four overs. Two days prior to the Sunday match, Prayas, who is in commerce stream, appeared for his Economics paper. “It’s tough but he is managing it. He has the full support of the team,” Prayas’s father Dr Kaushik Ray Barman was quoted as saying in a PTI report.

After taking Entrepreneurship exam on April 4 next, Prayas will again join RCB for the match against Kolkata Knight Riders on April 5.
