Nine people were arrested by the Hyderabad Task Force Police after it launched a massive crackdown on adulterated food and raided several ice cream parlours and sweet shops in the city on June 8.
According to a report in TheNewsMinute, the police officials raided ice cream parlours and sweet shops in several places of Old City like Langer Houz and Golconda, besides areas of Secunderabad like Lalaguda and Marredpally.
A police official revealed that the ice cream makers were adulterating it bt mixing non-ISI certified milk powder, expired synthetic colours, electrolysis chemical powders and vanaspati. Sweets, especially petha, was being adulterated by mixing whitewash cement, phitkari, sodium hydro sulphide and artificial food colours.
Apart from this, some people were also found making Tomato, chilli sauces and vinegar illegally without licence. The officials arrested the owners of the establishments which were found preparing the adulterated food.
This was not for the first time when police officials launced several raids. The Hyderabad Police has carried out raids since past one week to keep a check on food safety and public health in the city.
On Wednesday, the police had arrested six people for alleged adulteration of food, after raiding ice cream shops and their manufacturing units, reported PTI.
The shops were reportedly functioning without obtaining a proper licence and permission from authorities. The police also claimed that the shops were unauthorised artificial chemical food colours.

The police in a statement had recently said that with the practice of injecting Oxytocin twice a day, the drug remains in the milk and results in diseases like breast cancer and prostate cancer. This practice of adulteration will also results in severe medical issues in adolescents.
