Hyderabad man orders DSLR camera worth Rs 41k from Flipkart, gets rude shock after opening parcel

A Hyderabad-based businessman purchased a DSLR camera worth Rs 41,000 from Flipkart. What happened next is indeed shocking

A Hyderabad-based businessman got the shock of his life when he ordered a Canon DSLR camera through a popular e-commerce website and received a toy camera instead along with a stone. After failing to get any response from the online giant, he lodged a police complaint.

According to reports, 24-year-old Vinay is a businessman and runs a factory that manufactures rice mill machines. A photography enthusiast, the Mamata Nagar Colony resident had ordered a brand new Canon EOS 700D digital camera from Flipkart and paid Rs 41,000 through credit card.

“Vinay received the parcel through a delivery executive on September 5. To his shock, all he got were a stone along with two dummy cameras instead of a real one,” sub-inspector K Saidulu told a leading news website. The customer immediately informed the company’s customer care centre about the fraud. The police official said that the customer care executive said that it was found after verification that the genuine camera had been shipped to Vinay. “Vinay contacted the delivery executive who claimed that he did not open the parcel,” Saidulu added.

After failing to get a refund or a replacement, Vinay lodged a complaint with the LB Nagar Police Station. The investigations have begun and the case has been referred to the Cyber Crime Police of Rachakonda Commissionerate. It was not the first time that a customer received a fake product or a stone in the parcel. Several complaints have been registered in the past regarding the fraud.
