Hyd Mayor Gets Challan, Thanks Citizen For Pointing Out No One Is Above Law

A citizen recently pointed out to Hyderabad Mayor Bonthu Rammohan that his car was parked in a no-parking zone

India ranks 78 out of 176 countries in Transparency International, pointing to widespread misuse of positions of power by politicians. When a politician decides not to do that, netizens find it worthy of praise. A citizen recently pointed out to Hyderabad Mayor Bonthu Rammohan that his car was parked in a no-parking zone in Cyberabad area. The photo of the mayor’s car was posted on social media on January 31.

Afterwards, the city traffic police sent an e-challan to Rammohan, who then thanked the person for pointing out that he had flouted the rules. He also appreciated Telangana State Police for treating him the same way as any other citizen. He posted the screenshot of the e-challan of the fine.

I appreciate the citizen who bought the traffic offence of my car to the notice of TS police. I have cleared the challan. Request you all to take this as an example not to keep quite at offence that comes to your notice and at the same time follow the rules. pic.twitter.com/3x9njD4p6B

He later clarified that the offence was committed by his driver, but not intentionally.

It was not an intentional offence by my driver, It happened when we were on our duty responding to the problems in the https://t.co/GC1m7S8xzP isnt a excuse though… Rules are for everyone and we all should abide by them.
PS:Not punishing my driver for this offence.

However, not all politicians like to set such an example. Last month, Deputy Mayor of Hyderabad Baba Fasiuddin was criticised for travelling in a car without a number plate, thereby violating traffic rules. The Hyderabad traffic police failed to send Fasiuddin a notice regarding the same even though the photo of the car was posted on social media.

Here’s how people on social media responded to the Hyderabad Mayor’s post:

Why can’t we take our traffic system to such stage where commuters will have no chance to commit any sort of traffic offence.
