How Pakistan tortures its captives: Kin of Indian soldier reveals amid row over Kulbhushan Jadhav’s death sentence

Kulbhushan Yadav, an ex-Indian Navy official was arrested in Balochistan. Yesterday, Pakistan in an unprecedented move announced death sentence for him.

Amid outrage over the death sentence to Kulbhushan Jadhav, Pakistan’s inhuman treatment of another Indian solider Chandu Chavan has come to light. Chavan who had inadvertently crossed the border on September 29, was detained in Pakistan and was jailed for a few months.

Soon after the news broke, Chavan’s grandmother Lila Chindha Patil died of shock. Chavan was returned to India on January 21. Acording to a News18 report, a member of Chavan’s family revealed that they had received a call from Kulbhushan Jadhav’s family after Chandu had returned to India. They were clueless about his location and condition.

Notably, the way video of Kulbhushan Jadhav has been shot, Chandu was also tortured and then a Pakistani army official used to ask him to say the exact sentences in front of the camera,” claimed the family member. He reportedly said that the Paksitani officials used to drug and toture Chandu, to an extent that he went numb. He just used to ask for death as he never uttered a word about the details he had with him.

The family member revealed that Pakistan Army’s torture techniques are such that a person starts asking for death. Chandu was time and again asked to say sentences in front of the camera and the captors used to cover his face with a black cloth.

The assertion further proves that a video of Jadhav’s alleged confession released by Pakistan earlier was not authentic. The video has been dismissed by India. Chandu reportedly didn’t tell Jadhav’s family about the torture, so that his family members do not panic. Chavan was reportedly made to say on camera that he had crossed the border to trigger bomb blasts in Pakistan.
