Hizbul commander threatens to behead Hurriyat leaders for calling Kashmir struggle ‘political’

Earlier, Hurriyat leaders Syed Ali Shah Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Yasin Mallik had issued a joint statement in which they mentioned that there is no place for ISIS and al-Qaeda in the freedom struggle in Kashmir

Amid the unrest in Kashmir valley for some time now, a video clip has surfaced threatening to behead separatist leaders if they came in the way of making Kashmir an Islamic state. The clip contains slides showing Islamic quotes about Islam, however, the person who is speaking cannot be seen in it.

According to a report in Hindustan Times, the person is believed to be Hizbul Mujahideen commander Zakir Musa, who has taken the place of Burhan Wani after he got killed in an encounter last year. Zakir Musa called separatist leaders “hypocrites, infidels, followers of evil”. He threatened to behead them “if they create hurdles in the path of making Kashmir an Islamic state”.

The video clip has surfaced a few days after Hurriyat leaders Syed Ali Shah Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Yasin Mallik had issued a joint statement in which they mentioned that there is no place for ISIS and al-Qaeda in the freedom struggle in Kashmir. They said, “Terrorism and freedom movement are poles apart”.

“We just want to ask these hypocrites if Kashmir is a political issue (then) why are you raising slogans like ‘Azadi ka matlab kya (What is the meaning of freedom). La Illaha Ilallah’, ‘Pakistan say rishta kya (With is the relation with Pakistan). La Illaha Ilallah’,” the militant said.

However, the authenticity of the video could not be verified independently.

This is for the first time that a video clip targeting separatist leaders have surfaced in the valley. Many people have expressed shock over the video that has gone viral.

Meanwhile, Hizbul’s spokesperson Saleem Hashmi in a statement said, “The outfit has neither got anything to do with the statement of Moosa nor the statement is acceptable to it”.
