Amid the uproar over the gruesome murder of senior journalist Gauri Lankesh, people have started blocking Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Twitter and #BlockNarendraModi started trending on the micro blogging site in no time. Why you ask?
Social media users have got #BlockNarendraModi trending on Twitter to protest against the abusive trolls. People have raised questions on PM Narendra Modi for allegedly following the trolls who stated that Gauri Lankesh deserved to die. Following the death of Gauri Lankesh who was known to be extremely vocal about her views on secularism and was an outright Hindutva critic, a number of people on social media came out to make some appalling comments post her death.
One of the abusive trolls includes Nikhil Dadhich who apparently used unpleasant words moments after Gauri’s passing. “Ek kuttiya kutte ki maut kya mari, saare pille ek sur mein bilbila rahe hain,” he allegedly Tweeted. The tweet, however, is now unavailable.

Nikhil claimed that he did not mention Gauri Lankesh’s name anywhere in the tweet and people were conspiring against him only because was followed by the PM.

Narendra Modi who is one of the most popular leaders on social media boasts of 33.8m followers on Twitter. Expressing their anger on the Prime Minister some of the social media users on Twitter lashed out at the Prime Minister for following the abusive trolls stating that anyone following the “filthy trolls” could never be their Prime Minister. Gauri Lankesh was shot dead outside her residence in Bengaluru by unidentified miscreants. A number of people staged a protest in various parts of the country raising questions about freedom of speech and expression in the country. Meanwhile, the police are making efforts to nab the accused.
