Haryana: Scorned woman sets boyfriend's mother on fire

The victim succumbed to her injuries in the hospital, while the accused, who also sustained burns, is undergoing treatment at a hospital in Rohtak.

In a shocking incident, a 21-year-old woman allegedly set her boyfriend’s mother on fire after she objected to their relationship. The incident happened in Haryana’s Bahadurgarh district on March 26.

According to a TOI report, the victim succumbed to her injuries in the hospital, while the accused, who also sustained burns, is undergoing treatment at a hospital in Rohtak.

The cops have booked the accused for murder and have registered a case against her. She has been identified as Sunita. Sunita is a resident of Jahangirpur village near Badli of Jhajjar and had met Satyawan through a common friend.

The police have stated that Sunita is in a critical condition and is currently unfit to join the investigations. The victim’s body has been handed over to her family after a post-mortem examination.

It is alleged that the victim (Saroj) had objected to Sunita and Satyawan’s relationship, which lasted till January this year, after Satyawan got married to a girl. Saroj had reportedly forced her son to get married to Alka, in order to end Satyawan’s relationship with Sunita.

Ever since, Sunita was her sworn enemy and came to Dabola Khurd village, looking for the victim and her son. She was accompanied by two other women, probably her relatives. Sunita found Saroj in her shop and set her on fire. Alka tried to save her, but was unsuccessful in doing so.

Meanwhile, villagers rushed to the spot and nabbed Sunita while she was trying to escape from the spot.
