Goat who loves munching paper eats up owner’s Rs 66,000 in cash

Goat chewed up Rs 66000 of Sarvesh Kumar Pal , a farmer in UP's Kannauj

It was just another day in the life of Sarvesh Kumar Pal, a farmer at Siluapur village in Uttar Pradesh’s Kannauj district. He has a pet goat which is notorious for chewing up all kinds of paper products. Sarvesh had kept Rs 66,000 in the pocket of his trouser which was to be used to purchase bricks for construction work that is underway in his house. All the currency were in the denomination of Rs 2000 notes. Oblivion to the shock that he was about to get , the UP farmer was taking a relaxing bath. But as Sarvesh came out of the bathroom, he saw the goat munching on its favorite food (the cash bundle). He ran to prevent the goat from eating all the notes but sadly he could only retrieve 2 notes in damaged condition.

“I was taking a bath and the money was kept in the pocket of my trousers. Notorious for eating all kinds of paper products, the goat seized the chance to munch on its favourite food. What to do, my goat is like a child to me,” Sarvesh told Times of India. “Later, two notes wet in saliva could be retrieved in a damaged condition,” he added.

After the incident came into light, neighbours and nearby areas queued up to Sarvesh’s house to have a glimpse of the goat. Many find it interesting and  even clicked selfies with the goat. The farmer’s neigbours came out with new ideas with some suggesting to take the goat to a veterinary and get some medicines to make the goat vomit and recover the lost money. While others,in a lighter vein, asked Sarves to hand over the goat to the police as it had committed a serious crime. A few also told Sarvesh to sell the goat to the butcher as it had brought misfortune. But Sarvesh and his wife shrugged off all the suggestions as they treat the pet as their own child. “We can’t be cruel to our pet. It is like our own child,” Sarvesh and his wife said.
