GoAir aircraft Airbus A320 Neo, which took off from Mumbai, made an emergency at Indira Gandhi International airport, New Delhi due to some disturbance in its engine on February 14. Over 180 passengers were there on the flight and no one was hurt.
As stated by GoAir, the captain of the flight number G8 329, scheduled from Mumbai to Delhi, had sought priority landing from the Air Control Tower (ATC).
“Some technical fault in the air bleed system compelled the flight commander to reduce the power of the left engine and he asked for emergency assistance during landing,” said the airlines. However, the aircraft with 183 passengers on board landed safely in Delhi at 8:06 am, it added.
A team was assigned for the inspection and the engine has been rectified by replacing the faulty engine. The aircraft will be cleared for operations after necessary ground checks, the airline said.
It was the second incident within a week that a GoAir aircraft made an emergency landing due to some fault in the engine.
On February 9, a Bengaluru-bound GoAir flight with about 200 passengers on board avoided a disastrous fate on the evening of February 8. It was the group of locals who spotted the aircraft’s engine on fire and immediately informed the Police Control Room which conveyed the emergency situation to Delhi air traffic control.
As per the reports, all the passengers travelling in the plane were safe. It was around 7.40 pm when CISF Control room at Terminal 1D got a call from PCR that two locals have seen fire on the aircraft’s engine. After the emergency like situation reached the flight captain, he asked for the help and was allowed to land the plane at the Indira Gandhi International Airport.
