Delhi Govt to implement odd-even scheme from Nov 13. And Tweeps’ reaction is pure savage

Delhi government has decided to implement the third phase of its odd-even scheme from November 13 to November 17

Delhi is facing the worst crisis ever. The pollution level in the national capital and the surrounding region has reached a hazardous level. The condition is so severe that all major hospitals in Delhi have witnessed a 20 percent rise in patients seeking treatment for various respiratory issues such as asthma and pneumonia.

While the Indian Medical Association has described it as a “public health emergency”, AIIMS director Dr Randeep Guleria has compared the situation with the Great Song of London in 1952 which killed over 4,000 people.

In a bid to control the rising air pollution in the national capital, the Delhi government has decided to implement the third phase of its odd-even scheme from Monday, November 13 to Friday, November 17. The announcement was made by Delhi Transport Minister, Kailash Gehlot. Here’s what he said,

Odd-Even will be implemented from November 13-17. Request people and all agencies to cooperate. Exemptions will be same as last time.

“IGL stickers for cars will be available from tomorrow at 22 CNG stations across Delhi. Also, extra buses are being arranged,” Gehlot added.

Gehlot also promised that unlike the first and second phase of the car-rationing scheme, the state government would ensure that the commuters don’t face the issue of surge pricing by the cab drivers. Here’s what he said,

We are calling a meeting of cabs and taxis tomorrow and we will ensure that there will be no surge pricing this time.

Odd-Even scheme
The Delhi government first introduced the odd-even scheme in January last year in a bid to control the rising pollution in the national capital. The first phase of the car-rationing scheme was implemented for a period of 15 days from January 1, 2016, to January 15, 2016. However, there was no conclusive evidence to suggest if the scheme was a success.

The second phase was implemented for a period of 15 days between April 15, 2016, and April 30, 2016. Reports suggest that the air pollution rose by 23 percent during the second phase of its implementation.

Meanwhile, Twitterati mocked Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for his decision to implement the scheme. Here’s what they had to say:
