Even though the reporter on the ground did not give out the names of the deceased, she realised that it was her husband

In a rare show of professional commitment, a 28-year-old new anchor maintained calm and composure while breaking the news of a car accident that resulted in his husband’s death.

Supreet Kaur, a news reader at Chhattisgarh’s private IBC-24 channel, started her job at 10 am as usual on Saturday but 15 minutes into the bulletin, she broke the news about a car accident in Mahasamund that had left three dead and two injured. Soon, she realised that the news was about her own husband, however, she did not lose calm and completed the bulletin. She was also supposed to travel on the same route in same car. She broke down only after stepping out of the studio. Kaur then began calling her relatives and left for the accident site.Kaur had married Harsad Kawade a year ago and the couple was living in Raipur

“There were five people in the Renault Duster vehicle that they were traveling in and another unidentified vehicle, most likely a truck, hit them from behind. The damage to the vehicle was terrible and three people died with two others grievously injured… (Kaur’s husband) Harshad Kawade, a Raipur resident, was one of them,” a police officer told Indian Express.

Even though the reporter on the ground did not give out the names of the deceased, she realised that it was her husband who travelling in the Renault Duster with his companions, the team could tell she had discovered, the production team also found out but but could not tell as she was live on television, a senior editor with IBC 24, told the daily.
