Supreme Court stays Madras HC interim order restraining publication of NEET results 2017 for admission to MBBS and BDS courses

The Supreme Court on June 12 allowed the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) to declare NEET results 2017. The top court has stayed Madra High Court interim order restraining publication of results of NEET for admission of MBBS and BDS courses.

As per reports, the apex court has directed authorities to go ahead and declared results of NEET 2017 and also publish the details of the admission as per the schedule that was decided earlier. The Supreme Court has further asked high court to not entertain petitions pertaining to matters relating to NEET exams 2017. While there is no official confirmation, it is also being reported that the NEET results 2017 could be declared on June 12.

In an interim order on the petitions, the Madras High Court on May 24 stayed the publication of the NEET results and asked the officials of the Medical Council of India, the CBSE director and the Union health ministry to file their counter affidavits. Following which, the CBSE moved the Supreme Court demanding an immediate stay on High Court’s order restraining the publication of the results.

Madra HC had put an interim stay on pleas that alleged that a uniform question paper was not given in the exams and there was a lot of difference between the ones in English and in Tamil. CBSE told the Supreme Court that it was due to the High court’s order that the schedule and subsequent admission for MBBS and BD had gone “haywire”.
