In what has come as a shock for many Indians, Snapchat Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Evan Spiegel has allegedly said that the app is not for a ‘poor country like India’ and was not keen on expanding the business in India.
The revelation is made by Anthony Pompliano, a former employee who was fired by Snapchat. Pompliano said that Spiegel made this statement in a meeting in 2015. “This app is only for rich people,” Spiegel said, as told by Pompliano. “I don’t want to expand into poor countries like India and Spain.”
According to the Variety report, Pompliano was in a meeting with the CEO to discuss the ideas to increase its global reach when Spiegel made the statement.
The comment made by 26-year-old CEO of snapchat were published in the Variety report after the ex-employee filed a lawsuit against Snapchat in the United States.

Rubbishing the claim made by its former employee, this was the reaction of Snap.inc, “This is ridiculous. Obviously, Snapchat is for everyone! It’s available worldwide to download for free.”
“The simple fact is that he (Mr Pompliano) knows nothing about Snap’s current metric,” the company’s attorneys reacted, according to Variety.
Snapchat has its headquarter in Los Angeles, California. It provides a popular image messaging mobile application with over 500 million downloads through Google’s Play Store. It was created in the year 2011 by students of Stanford University, Evan Spiegel, Bobby Murphy and Reggie Brown.
