After conquering the Indian FMCG market, yoga guru Baba Ramdev’s owned Patanjali is now planning to expand its base and will soon be exporting its product to China. According to the reports doing rounds, Patanjali Ayurved is working towards setting up a production unit in Sahibganj, a district in Jharkhand, from where the company can easily export its products to East Asian countries.
“To use the Sahibganj multi-modal terminal for export of its products to East Asian countries like China, Myanmar, Bangladesh and others, Baba Ramdev’s Patanjali is currently in discussion with Union shipping minister Nitin Gadkari and with the Inland Waterways Authority of India,” leading newspaper Mint quoted a senior central government official on condition of anonymity.
Valued at Rs 30 billion, Patanjali Ayurved is currently located in Haridwar. The company currently manufactures about 500 products including 45 types of cosmetic products and 30 types of food products. According to Patanjali, all the products manufactured by Patanjali are made from Ayurveda and natural components. Dant Kanti, Atta noodles and Kesh Kanti are among the popular products produced under Patanjali.
Moreover, Patanjali also produces over 300 medicines for treating a range of ailments from the common cold to chronic paralysis.
Besides Baba Ramdev, his close aide Acharya Bal Krishna owns close to 94 per cent of stake in Patanjali Ayurved.
Earlier on March 12, Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley unveiled a state-of-the-art ayurvedic treatment centre, Niramaya, which aims to cater to high-net-worth patients. The centre was unveiled near Aurangabad village, about 20km from Haridwar.
The centre has treatment options ranging from Rs 10,000 to Rs 50,000 per day offers the best of Ayurveda and naturopathy.
