Amid souring relations, India planning to issue less number of visas to Pak citizens

India has also cancelled the maritime talks with Pakistan which were scheduled for early next week

The standoff between India and Pakistan is escalating since a military court in the neighbouring country has awarded death sentence to Indian national Kulbhushan Jadhav. Earlier, India has put all bilateral talks with Pakistan on hold and now it has decided to limit the number of visas issued to Pakistan.

The official announcement on curbing visas is likely to be made next week after which visas for sports, cultural activties to Pakistani citizens might get slashed. Visas will only be issued for emergency situations like medical treatment.

As per a report, India was initially planning to not issue visa to any Pakistani citizen but later decided to put the initial curb on prominent artists.

As the issue is escalating with each passing day, India has also cancelled the maritime talks with Pakistan which were scheduled for early next week.

Meanwhile, Jadhav’s location in Pakistan is not known and there is no information about his health, the official spokesperson of Ministry of External Affairs, Gopal Baglay said, “We are making all efforts to get him back but we can’t reveal the steps that will be taken to achieve it.”
