A few days back, a Mumbai based start up ‘Culture Machine’ has also announced that the women employees will be given off on the first day of their period.

The decision taken by the company was confirmed by the Mathrubhumi’s Joint Managing Director MV Shreyams Kumar. According to him, the announcement made by the Mumbai-start up prompted them to come up with such a policy in their office too.

As per a report in The News Minute, the MD said, “When this other firm came forward with the idea, we felt that it was a very good and practical practice to adopt. And so the decision was taken. The first day of period leave will be an additional leave for the women employees and will not be considered as casual leave or sick leave. We took the decision not because any employee asked for it, but felt that it should be granted”.
