On June 12, Kritika Chaudhary, a small time actor, was found dead under mysterious at her residence in Andheri, Mumbai. Her decomposed body was found when police entered her flat after her neighbours complained about a foul smell coming from her flat.

The actor who came to Mumbai from Haridwar had appeared in a Balaji TV series and a flop movie – Rajjo, starring Kangana Ranaut. After the postmortem, it was confirmed that it was a murder. After nearly a one-month long investigation, the Mumbai Police today arrested two persons in connection with the killing and claimed to have solved the murder mystery.

Initially, the police had registered an Accidental Death Report (ADR). But, after the post-mortem report revealed that Kritika Chaudhary died due to serious a head injury, a case under IPC section 302 (murder) was registered.

Murder mystery solved!

After the arrest, the police, according to a report in The Quint, claimed that the actor was murder over Rs 6,000! She allegedly owed that money to a local drug dealer.

According to the report, the two accused, identified as Shakeel Naseem Khan and Badshah Basudas Makmalal, were captured on the CCTV footage of the actor’s building in Bhairavnath Housing Society in the Four Bungalows area of Andheri (West).

Chaudhary had reportedly purchased drugs from Khan a year ago, and did not pay him. On the night she was murdered, the two had visited Choudhary’s apartment to collect the money she owed them. However, the argument escalated and in a fit of rage, the accused hit Kritika with a knuckle duster, and left her bleeding.

How the accused were traced…

The Quint report suggests that one of the accused had left his blood-stained shirt at the crime scene, which helped the Mumbai Police in nabbing the accused.

The accused were produced before the court today and have been remanded in police custody for a week for further investigations.

A year ago, Khan was arrested in a drug peddling case. He used to work for a major drug peddler, who was also arrested by the Mumbai police’s Anti-Narcotics Cell earlier.

Brother not satisfied with police theory!

Deepak Chaudhary, the brother of the victim, reportedly said that he does not think that Rs 6,000 is a provocation big enough to lead to murder.

“No one in our family believes it. And Kritika had Rs 22,000 in cash in her purse when she was murdered. The police handed that cash to us only a few days ago. Had it been about the money, she could have instantly given it to them. Why wouldn’t she? And would they murder her over such a small amount?” Questioned the brother, according to The Quint report.

Who was Kritika Chaudhary?

Hailing from Haridwar, Chaudhary came to Mumbai seven to eight years ago to make a career in the film industry.

Chaudhary’s career had failed to take the flight she had expected it to. She was living alone in a one-bedroom apartment in the Amboli area of western Mumbai.

According to reports, she was married, but had separated from her husband.
