While speaking to a TV news channel, Gurmehar revealed that some people have been threatening her since the time she spoke against the group post the clashed in the college.

“I have been receiving a lot of threats on social media. If you open my Facebook profile picture that I changed, you will notice that people have been calling me an anti-national. This is scary. Giving rape threats to the women of your own country in the name of nationalism is not correct,” she said. In the wake of violent clashes at Delhi’s Ramjas college, a Lady Sri Ram College student who is the daughter of a Kargil martyr, had kick-started social-media campaign against ABVP.

Kaur changed her Facebook profile picture holding a placard which reads, “I am a student from Delhi University. I am not afraid of ABVP. I am not alone. Every student of India is with me. #StudentsAgainstABVP”. The campaign has gathered huge support on social media. Students from different campuses replaced their profile pictures on Instagram and Facebook with the picture of Gurmehar holding a placard against ABVP.Ramjas College had on Wednesday witnessed large-scale violence between members of AISA and ABVP workers.

The genesis of the clash was an invite to JNU students Umar Khalid and Shehla Rashid to address a seminar on Culture of Protests which was withdrawn by the college authorities following opposition by the RSS student wing.
