18-year-old boy forced to drink acid and the reason will make you cringe

The police have recovered the bottle from which Yogesh was made to drink acid. The bottle has been sent for forensic examination

A group of nearly 10 people on Tuesday forced an 18-year-old boy to drink acid. Reason? Paneer. In southeast Delhi’s Sangam Vihar area, the men engaged in a fight with the boy, identified as Yogesh Sagar, over the sale of paneer. Yogesh sold milk products in Sangam Vihar along with his father. When one of these accused men went to his shop on July 24 to buy paneer, he got agitated after he was told that it was unavailable.

Two people were detained on Thursday and are being questioned in connection with the case. He was admitted to Majedia Hospital who informed the police about Yoges. He has been referred to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) where he is undergoing treatment.

An FIR has been filed under sections 326-A (voluntarily causing grievous hurt by the use of acid) and 34 of the Indian Penal Code and a case has been registered at the Sangam Vihar police station. The police have recovered the bottle of the chemical from which Yogesh was made to drink acid. The bottle has been sent for forensic examination.

Narrating what happened on July 24, Yogesh’s father said: “Golu, who lives in the neighbourhood, had come to the shop to buy paneer. My son told him that it was not available. He got agitated. He picked up a knife kept in the shop and tried to attack my son, but I stopped him. He threatened us of dire consequences and left.” He added that they did not pay much attention to what Golu said as he was in an inebriated state.

On the next day when Yogesh was about to shut his shop at around 11 pm, Golu arrived with some other men and started waving a pistol. “Four-five men held my son, while the others assaulted him. Golu then forced acid down his throat,” Yogesh’s father alleged.

When victim’s sister started screaming, neighbours rushed to the spot and on seeing people gather, the accused persons fled. “Doctors at AIIMS said his condition is critical. My son is in severe pain. Doctors said his chances of survival are 50 per cent right now,” Kumar said.
