24 CRPF personnel killed in an encounter with Naxals in Chhattisgarh’s Sukma

CRPF personnel who suffered injuries after an encounter with the Naxals have lost their lives in Sukma region of Chattisgarh

As many as 24 CRPF personnel of 74 battalion have lost their lives and six of them have suffered injuries in an encounter with the Naxals in Chhattisgarh’s Sukma area on April 24. The attack took place earlier in the day when CRPF personnel including Inspector Raghuvir Singh suffered injuries and were rushed to the hospital for treatment.

It was earlier reported that 7 CRPF personnel were suffered injuries out of which four were critical. Congress’ Manish Tiwari has come out to condemn the attack and have urged the government to take the necessary steps. “Extremely unfortunate, hope government will act with alacrity.Hope government initiates appropriate action against people responsible for attack,” Tiwari said.

Meanwhile, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh have called an emergency meeting post the attack. 90 CRPF jawans were part of the road opening party when they were attacked by Naxals. The maoists have also reportedly looted the weapons of the jawans.

A number of people on social media have also come out to express grief over the incident while terming the incident as unfortunate. Meanwhile, the injured jawans have been shifted to another hospital for further treatment.

MoS Home Hansraj Ahir is also scheduled to visit Raipur today in the wake of Naxal attack. Chhattisgarh CM has cancelled his engagements in Delhi and has rushed for Raipur.
