Suriya’s Singam 3 ends opening first week in style, emerges top Tamil grosser of 2017

Tamil superstar Suriya’s Singam 3 has completed its opening week in a grand style. Directed by Hari and produced by Gnanavel Raja, the action-entertainer stars Anushka Shetty and Shruti Haasan as the female leads. The film also marks the debut of bodybuilding champion and TV actor Thakur Anoop Singh. The actor, who made his TV debut with the role of the blind king Dhritarashtra in the hit Mahabharata series, essays the main antagonist in Singam 3.

Singam 3, which had released on 9 February 2017 has recorded excellent collections after registering a record-breaking weekend. The Suriya starrer has minted nearly Rs 110 crore in its 8-days long opening week itself at the Box Office worldwide. After minting Rs 100 crore in 6-theatrical days, Singam 3 was rock steady on the weekdays as well. And with this feat, Singam 3 has already emerged as the top Tamil grosser of 2017. The Hari directorial has shattered the lifetime collections of Ilyathalapathy Vijay’s Bairavaa to do so. With Singam 3, Suriya has clocked his third Rs 100 crore grosser in his kitty. The actor’s earlier releases, Singam 2 and 24 were Rs 100 crore hits as well.

Singam 3 marks Suriya in one of his most loved avatar; DCP Durai Singam. The film marks the third film in the popular Singam franchise. The brand Singam is not only popular in South India, but also in North. The first two films in the series, Singam and Singam 2 were remade featuring Ajay Devgn in Bollywood as well. Singam is one of the most successful franchise in Tamil industry as well.
