Swara Bhaskar is having an extra-marital affair and 'It's Not That Simple'

Why do you always need to be judged for your decisions?

A woman’s life is guarded by the roles she play to the people around her — daughter, sister, wife, mother and the life goes on. Add the word ‘ideal’ to these roles, and she becomes an epitome of responsibilities — an ideal woman. That’s what Voot’s new web series featuring Swara Bhaskar in the role of a supposedly ideal woman talks about.

Titled as It’s Not That Simple, the series is out with the first episode which has Swara aka Meera telling her self-realisation story of being more than just a housewife. But how? By sleeping with the men in her past life? Or by spending some quality time with the men who make her feel important and happy about herself? In her entire journey, you can choose to or not to judge her.

While this again, like other popular web series — Man’s World, Bang Baaja Baarat and Ladies Room, to name a few, try to sensitise us about an issue, It’s Not That Simple doesn’t really explain what it tries to. Rather, it confuses the viewers about its own stance on the issue — is extra marital affair something to feel guilty about?

The episode features three men in Meera’s life — Jayesh (her husband), Rajiv and Sameer (her school friends). Her life is simply mundane with a child, husband, food and marital sex till she attends a school reunion and discovers the hidden ‘free woman’ she used to be in her good ol’ days. And how this discovery leads to the further ups and downs in her life is what constitute the first episode.

It’s Not That Simple, a six-episode web series is written by Charudutt Acharya and directed by Danish Aslam.
