Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s father Krishnaraj Rai who was being treated at a hospital in Mumbai passed away on March 18 after a prolonged illness. A host of Bollywood celebrities attended the funeral to pay their last respects. Celebrities who attended the funeral included Aishwarya’s husband Abhishek Bachchan and her father-in-law Amitabh Bachchan.
Top Bollywood celebrities including Shah Rukh Khan, Kunal Kapoor and Sanjay Leela Bhansali also attended the funeral that was held at Mumbai’s Vile Parle Seva Sansthan Shamshan Bhoomi. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s father Krishnaraj Rai had been admitted at the Mumbai’s Leelavati Hospital earlier this month. He had to be shifted to the ICU after his health deteriorated.

Last month, Aishwarya had to return from her Dubai vacation when she learnt about the bad health condition of her father. Aishwarya was continuously keeping a tab on her father’s health. He added Aishwarya did all by herself as Abhishek was in New York. As soon as he landed in India, Abhishek visited his father-in-law.However, there is no confirmation on the exact cause of the death, reports suggest that her father was suffering from a recurrence of cancer.
He was set to be discharged after spending two weeks in the hospital. It was also reported that the Bachchan who are known to throw a lavish Holi party every year did not celebrate the festival due to her Aishwarya Rai’s father’s illness. Aishwarya and husband Abhishek Bachchan were also seen paying regular visit to Krishnaraj Rai when he was undergoing treatment. Celebs soon were spotted at Krishnaraj Rai residence to pay their last respect.
