#BlackbuckPoachingCase: How Did The Case Affect Saif Ali Khan, Tabu, Sonali Bendre and Neelam Kothari’s Career?

Has the case ever had any effect on these stars?

In 1998, Salman Khan, Saif Ali Khan, Tabu, Sonali Bendre and Neelam Kothari were accused of poaching two black bucks while shooting for Hum Saath Saath Hai. After 20 years, today a Jodhpur court has convicted Bollywood actor Salman Khan in the case, while his co-actors Saif Ali Khan, Tabu, Sonali Bendre and Neelam Kothari have been acquitted. Just yesterday, worried Saif was seen shouting at his driver when the reporters approached him and huddled around his car with questions regarding the case. The Nawab of Pataudi lost his cool and asked the driver, to roll up the window or he’ll hit him.

But before this has the case ever had any effect on these stars or on their career? Well, we already know about Bhai, he went on to gain superstardom and Chotte Nawab switched gears to be part of more middle-of-the-road cinema, like Omkara and Dil Chahata Hai.

As a matter of fact,  he has around 40 films in his name after Hum Saath Saath Hain. Even after giving eight flop films in a row with his latest Kaalakaandi included, Saif is counted among the Bollywood’s A-listers.

Tabu, actually, became the Tabu we know post the 1999 film. She worked in 47 movies out of which 36 were Bollywood and gave some critically acclaimed films like Astitva, Chandni Bar, Maqbool and Cheeni Kum.

But the same didn’t happen to the other two actresses involved in the case. Neelam Kothari worked in just two films post the release of Hum Saath Saath Hain, while Sonali Bendre was seen in Dahek, Sarfarosh, and some not-so-popular Bollywood films. Soon she moved to the regional cinema and worked in Telugu and Kannada movies. Bendre was last seen in 2003 release Kal Ho Naa Ho in a cameo role.
