AR Murugadoss can only make third rate action films, Priyadarshan says over ‘biased’ remarks

It's quite unfortunate to see AR Murugadoss and Priyadarshan arguing over the result of Bollywood superstar winning the national award

Malayalam-Tamil director and the Jury Chairman of 64th National Film Awards, Priyadarshan has finally reacted to the controversial tweets made by Telugu director AR Murugadoss over the results of the National Film Awards.

On Sunday, the director of Aamir Khan’s Ghajini and Akshay Kumar’s Holiday: A Soldier is Never Off Duty tweeted that the results of the national awards can clearly witness the influence and partiality of people in the jury. He also stated that the results were biased.

Speaking to South Indian film critic Sreedhar Pillai, the Hera Pheri director lashed out at Murugadoss for his remarks.

Priyadarshan said:

I heard about Murugadoss’ comment over the national awards results.I really didn’t understand his point. The first thing I want to tell is that legendary filmmaker Adoor Gopalakrishnan also made a comment over the results. But he has got Phalke awards and many international awards and he has proved himself that he is a great filmmaker. His opinion/comment has a value. But someone who has not done any good work in their life commenting on Bengali films and Marathi films on social platforms, who has only made third class action films have no right about to comment about intellectual cinema. I think maybe Akshay Kumar wouldn’t have given him another date for a film. Frankly, I don’t know why he behaved like that.

And the second thing I have not seen any films of Murugadoss except Ghajini. The words from a person like him have to be ignored. It’s not worth. I also didn’t take it very seriously. So of course with due respect to Murugadoss, I want to tell him to be specific before he says something. When he say it’s biased, he should explain why he said it. Maybe I think he has some problem with Akshay Kumar. Because jealousy and vengeance people keep those in mind and we can’t do anything.
