Akshay Kumar is not R Balki's 'Padman'. Then who is?

Giving everybody a glimpse of all his 2017 releases, Akshay Kumar also revealed that will not be playing the Padman. But why?

When Khiladi Akshay Kumar revealed his busy calender of 2017, his fans went crazy on seeing that the actor is coming not with one or two but four movies this year. Giving everybody a glimpse of all his 2017 releases, Akshay shared the names of his films on Twitter, which are Jolly LLB 2, Toilet: Ek Prem Katha, 2.0 and Padman.

But it seems like Padman is not really an Akshay Kumar film. Yes, you heard that right. The movie is Akshay’s wife Twinkle Khanna’s maiden production under her new banner Mrs Funnybones Movies and is the biopic of Arunachalam Muruganantham, the man who made sanitary napkins.

The film will be helmed by R. Balki and will showcase Arunachalam’s journey of finding a way to make cheap, affordable sanitary napkins for women in his village. When Akshay shared the poster of the film, everybody thought that the actor will be playing the lead role in his wife’s film, but it’s not the case.

In an interview with Deccan Chronicle, a source close to the film told that Akshay is not the Padman and a Tamil actor will play the lead role. In fact, Akshay himself confirmed the news and said:

As much as my wife loves me, she gets enough of me at home. She’s not going to want to work with me; her ambitions spread much further than the comfort zone of her own home.

After listening to this, many of his fans will be disappointed as we would have loved to see him play such unconventional character on the silver screen. Padman is likely to hit the theaters in December this year.
