After Sonu Nigam, singer Suchitra Krishnamoorthi faces backlash on her azaan tweets

After singer Sonu Nigam, Suchitra Krishnamoorthi has shown her discontent on the loud azaan volume. Here's what she said

After Sonu Nigam, Suchitra Krishnamoorthi, Bollywood actress and singer seemed annoyed with loud volume of azaan early in the morning. On July 22, she took to micro blogging site Twitter and showed her discontent on azaan. She was all over the internet and started trending on social media sites. In strong words, she wrote: “Came home at 4.45 am 2 most aggressive/ear shattering call of azaan. Nothing more lowlife & dumb than such extreme imposed religiousity”. Suchitra even shared a piece of her own article related with the azaan.

However, Suchitra did not get the support on and was rather trolled by many. She was even criticized by Samajwadi Party MLA Abu Azmi and All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) MLA Waris Pathan. Azmi said, “Women who party late till the night, sing and dance and have their hand around shoulders of other men should not talk about the country’s culture.”

This did not end here, replying to Azmi, Suchitra tweeted back, “Extremely religiosity dumbs and dwarfs the mind & restricts free thought. Applicable to all religions”. She was on Twitter for the whole day replying to the comments. To one such comment”.

She also received backlash from her fellow Bollywood mates. Farah Khan Ali tweeted:

Meanwhile, there were some who came forward and supported Suchitra.

Earlier, singer Sonu Nigam landed into controversy as he started a debate with his series of tweets on loudspeakers and azaan. The singer posted: God bless everyone. I’m not a Muslim and I have to be woken up by the azaan in the morning. When will this forced religiousness end in India?
