Aamir Khan’s first reaction on Dangal making Rs 300 crore at Box office

Dangal, released on December 23, 2016, is reaching new heights with every passing day. The film has minted Rs 374.95 crore in the domestic market.

After breaking all the records with his latest release Dangal, Bollywood’s ‘Mr Perfectionist’ Aamir Khan has said that a good film will always get those big numbers and one should aspire to take up interesting subjects.

Dangal, released on December 23, 2016, is reaching new heights with every passing day and is not only ruling the box office domestically but is making history overseas as well. In week 4 of its release, Dangal minted a total amount of Rs 374.95 crore in the domestic market.

On being quizzed about entering the Rs 300 crore club, Aamir said: “It’s a coincidence and I never even think about it. Let me put it this way: I am doing films that I love doing. I am enjoying my work. Whatever else is happening is a byproduct of it. Plus, it’s happening on its own. I believe in what Rancho says in 3 Idiots, ‘Chase excellence and success will follow you’.”

Further, on being asked about selecting a script, the actor said: “I had never signed films thinking about the box office outcome. I believe that films like Taare Zameen Par and Dangal did well despite not having a conventional approach thereby reaffirming his faith on the audiences.”

Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, Dangal marks Aamir’s return to the silver screen after a gap of two years. The film is a biopic of wrestler Mahavir Singh Phogat, who trains his daughters Geeta Phogat and Babita Kumari. Besides Khan, the film features Sakshi Tanwar, Fatima Sana Shaikh and Sanya Malhotra.

Meanwhile, Aamir will next be seen in YRF’s Thugs of Hindostan directed by Vijay Krishna Acharya. He also has a special appearance in Secret Superstar that releases in August this year.
