With barely a day left for voters to exercise their ballot power in Uttar Pradesh assembly elections, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh has dismissed reports that Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is losing support from the Jat community.
Addressing a press conference in Lucknow, the Home Minister said,” The opposition is spreading lies, BJP is getting tremendous support from the community.”
He also said that the government is looking into concerns of the community in Haryana as well.
Taking a swipe at Congress-Samajwadi Party alliance, Rajnath said that the combination of these two minuses will be negative only.
Alleging that Bahujan Samaj Party has lost the plot, Rajnath said that Mayawati’s party is stooping to communal politics to gain voters.
Home Minister has been campaigning vociferously to improve BJP’s prospects in the upcoming elections.
Pakistan has also been on the radar of home minister for quite some time.
At a campaign event in Noida’s Rabupura on February 9, Rajnath said, “As I arrived in Pakistan to attend the SAARC (South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation) summit, I saw some people raising slogans against me and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. I could have easily cancelled my visit right then and return home.
Instead, I decided to ignore the protests, attend the summit and give a befitting reply to Pakistan.”
Even during his rallies in Dadri and Jewar, he raked up Pakistan saying his government’s assertive stance vis-a-vis the nuclear neighbour has prompted the army to respond in equal measure to cross-border attacks and ceasefire violations.
