We are halfway through January, and the problem of dry skin is more than ever. Yes, we can’t take these itching, scaling, and cracking lightly because it not only spoils our look but, if left untreated, could also give way to the bacteria to infuse into your skin and cause dermatitis.

The problem can easily be addressed with hundreds of moisturisers available in the market; however, the home remedies work the best.

These remedies are pocket-friendly and also, nourish and hydrate the skin well.

Honey-Olive combo: Rich in Vitamin E and antioxidants, honey works really well as a natural moisturiser. On the other hand, olive oil can easily penetrate deep into the skin, providing a long-lasting shield of moisture.

Remedy: Take 2 teaspoons of honey, few drops of olive oil. Mix them well and apply the mixture to your body and face before taking bath. Leave it for 10 minutes, and then wash it with water.

Lemon-Milk: Milk is the best natural moisturiser. On the other hand, lemon cuts the top layer of dead skin cells. Thus, the combo of both will have all the positive effects that your skin needs.

Remedy: Take 4 tablespoons of milk, mix a few drops of rose water and add 2 tablespoons of lemon into it. Apply the solution all over the body. Leave it for 10 minutes and then wash it off with cold water.

Yogurt-Papaya pack: While yogurt hydrates, papaya exfoliates the dead skin.

Remedy: Take half cup yoghurt, 2 tablespoons mashed papaya. Mix them well. Now add 1 teaspoon honey and one teaspoon lemon juice to the mixture. Apply the mixture on skin, leave for 10 minutes. Cleanse it with cold water.

Glycerin-Lemon mixture: Glycerin helps the skin attract and retain moisture.

Remedy: Take five tablespoons of glycerin, lemon juice, and rose water. Mix all of them together. Keep the mixture in a bottle. You may use it everyday after a bath.

Avocado-Honey mask: This mask works wonders on your skin as it is an amalgamation of sterolin and humectants.

Remedy: Take 2 tablespoons of honey and 2 tablespoons of Avocado. Mix them together to form a paste. Apply this paste on face, leave for 10-15 minutes. Then rinse with water.

Olive oil-Egg mask: Rich in Vitamin E and K, olive oil pampers skin really well. Combining it with egg yolk makes it a good moisturiser for skin.

Remedy: Take one egg yolk, one tablespoon of olive oil. Mix them together. Apply on face and neck, cover face with the warm towel. Leave for 5-10 minutes. Now wash your face with warm water.

Banana-Yoghurt mask: Rich in anti-oxidants, banana is known to revitalise dead skin.

Remedy: Take half mashed banana and two tablespoons of plain yogurt. Mix them well. Apply on face and neck, leave for 15-20 minutes. Wash it off with warm water.

Castor oil-Olive oil: From treating acne marks to stretch marks, massaging with castor oil has benefits beyond the smooth skin.

Remedy: Take 1/4 of castor oil and 3/4 olive oil, mix them together. Massage your face with the mixture. Now put a warm towel on face for 2-3 minutes. Wash your face with warm water.

Curd-Honey remedy: Curd and honey: both hydrate the skin really well.

Remedy: Take 3 tablespoons of plain curd, add one tablespoon of honey and one teaspoon of lime juice to the mixture. Apply the mixture on face. Leave for 10-15 minutes. Wash it off with water.

Oil massage: Oil massage always helps to restore skin’s hydration level. You can opt for almond, olive or coconut oil for the purpose.
