A BJP MP’s comments on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s marriage is doing rounds on social media. Jyoti Dhurve, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) lawmaker from Madhya Pradesh’s Betul (ST) constituency comments “PM Modi got married but didn’t set up his household” gone viral has created a stir.

According to reports published by IANS, “in an audio clip, a local journalist who identified himself as Yogesh Soni called up Dhurve to discuss the matter and plead that the school commences this session.”

Dhurve had come to discuss the construction of a building for a proposed Kendriya Vidyalaya in Betul district. Expressing annoyance, she said “the Prime Minister says to connect with the people, public money will be spent, not from the Prime Minister’s fund. He got married but didn’t set up his household.”

However, she could not be contacted to confirm or deny it.

The BJP chief spokesman Deepak Vijayvargiya told IANS that all she said in this clip that she had never spoken anything like this and only talked about development.

There have been many controversies over time on his marriage.

PM Modi is married to Jashodaben. They were married in 1968 when Narendra Modi was 18 and Jashodaben was 16.

Although he kept his marriage secret for most of his career but acknowledged his wife when he filed his nomination for a parliamentary seat in the 2014 general elections.
