Here’s How Thousands Are Protesting Against Myanmar Coup

” I don’t want dictatorship, I just want boyfriend”

” Even ghosts are here cause Min Aung Hlaing (Mal) is scarier. ”

” Freedom from FEAR”

” No Justice No Peace”
These are some of the placards held by protesters

Thousands have hit the streets in Myanmar to protest against the military coup

Wearing eye-catchy costumes, and holding witty placards the youth took to streets in large numbers. On February 1, Myanmar’s military overthrew Aung San Suu Kyi’s democratically-elected government and detained Aung San Suu Kyi with other political leaders. The country found itself returning to military rule
after a 10-year of democracy.

The demonstrators were seen flashing a three- finger sign, inspired from youth protests in Thailand

The three- finger salute is a sign of resistance from the film series ‘Hunger Games’

Calls to join protests grew louder with the military shutting down internet and social media channels

Police used water cannon and rubber bullets as anti-coup protesters defied ban on gatherings
