Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Donald Trump both have a reputation of going overboard for impressing their respective counterparts while the Indian leader is famous as a serial hugger, the US president also seems to derive satisfaction from his assertive handshakes. PM Narendra Modi’s first meeting with the US President saw a number of handshakes, hugs, and broad smiles from his hosts. There was was a clear attempt by both leaders to develop a warm relationship that focussed on the convergence of interests. The two leaders gave a joint press statement wherein they laid primary focus on ‘destroying terrorism’ and ‘commitment towards strong India-USA bilateral relations.’
While Trump tugs so hard at the other person’s hand that they nearly loose their footing on the other hand, Modi loves translating a handshake into a deep embrace whict at times put the other person in an awkward situation. It was said Trump’s handshake has met a perfect match in Modi’s hugs and the Twitteratis had a field day making rib-tickling jibes at Modi’s ‘too close and personal’ hug and hilarious photo captions on the photos of both world leaders.
