This animated documentary can make you squirm about the much eluded topic of the clitoris and its functionality in the female anatomy

“Women are lucky, they get to have the only organ in the human body dedicated exclusively for pleasure,” a girl’s voice addresses us in this animated clip by Lori Malépart-Traversy. Don’t scratch your head if you don’t know, she is talking about the clitoris. In this wittily animated documentary, Le Clitoris, the artist explores an integral part of a woman’s anatomy that is often times left unknown to her in her discovery of her sexuality. The video hilariously compares to the clitoris or the clit to an iceberg and just like the iceberg, the majority of the organ remains hidden from sight and inside the body.

The word Clitoris is derived from the Greek word for it, kleitoris, which has its roots kleio which means to close, as with a door or latch. Scientists going on to explore the female anatomy have even suggested that clitoris may be derived from the Greek verb for tickle, kleitorizein which is the German word for the tickler.  The great Gabriele Falloppio, of Fallopian tube fame, was the first to describe the external anatomy of the clitoris way back in the 16th century. The clitoris was debated, discussed and even tossed aside by scientists before they finally agreed to acknowledge the fact that it exists.
