Disney has always been about flowers, ponies, fairy and ‘happily ever afters’, right? Well, Mexican visual artist José Rodolfo Loaiza Ontiveros is here to give a twist to our childhood icons.
José specializes in pop culture and his favorite muses are our beloved Disney characters– Cinderella, Snow White, Mickey Mouse and all the other cartoons that put a smile on your face. Here’s the twist- they’re all stuck in dark, modern times. While some pictures tackle important issues like homosexuality, sexism, self-expression, some pictures show your favorite characters in really grim situations (think alcohol and drugs).
The dark humour in some of these images really captures the essence of the modern world we live it. Check out the images for yourself:
Who says this isn’t a happily ever after?
