This Phone Has Two Screens Because One Is Apparently Now Too Basic

We can't help but wonder, how will you put a cover on this phone?

Does your phone give you heart palpitations because you’re scared that you’ll break the screen? Well, now you don’t need to worry about a solid cover to save your phone from cracking. We give you Vivo NEX Dual Display Edition — India’s first phone with a screen on the back too.

Having a notch on your phone is so 2018. Perhaps, that’s why companies like Oppo and Xiaomi try to find out different ways to kill the notch. But none so bizarre than Vivo. The phone has 2 displays, the front display is a complete edge-to-edge 6.39-inch OLED Full HD+ with a resolution of 2340×1080 pixels. The rear display is 5.49-inch OLED full HD with a resolution of 1920×1080 pixels. It has 3 rear cameras and does not have a selfie camera!

So…is Vivo the messiah that will solve India’s ‘selfie problem’? Not quite.

You can click selfies with the rear cameras, and the rear screen helps you view them. Both displays don’t work simultaneously unless you use the dual display mode in the camera. While clicking someone else’s picture, the rear display acts as a mirror which enables the subject to see themselves and adjust anything they want to before the picture is clicked.

But the innovative way to click pictures is not the only selling point of the phone. It has flagship specs as it’s powered with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor, 10GB RAM and 128GB of internal storage. Apart from serving as a selfie screen, the rear display has other uses as well. While playing games like PUBG, the rear screen serves as some sort of a controller which enhances the gaming experience. The phone runs on Vivo’s Funtouch OS 4.5 which is based on Android Pie 9.0 and has a 3500 mAH battery.

Dual displays might be a thing of the future, but this phone will definitely stand out from the current crowd. Whether it’ll be a trend or not, only time will tell. But we can’t help but wonder, how will you put a cover on this phone?
