WATCH: Wayne Rooney scores stunning goal, still criticised

Many fans were not happy with his performance as they demanded that he should be ousted from Manchester United

We admit that Manchester United lost to Fenerbahce 2-1. We admit that Wayne Rooney should have played better as he was playing as a striker. If he had scored goals or had been able to help the other striker to score goals, Manchester United would have won. But, his late goal gave a glimpse of what Wayne Rooney could be as a striker. His coming back into form is also a good news.

Wayne Rooney scored a great goal from a distance of 25 yards, ending the goal drought. That was the only goal Manchester United scored. Watch the amazing goal.

Despite the superb goal, he was criticised for not playing well. It is being said that he missed several chances as the striker. His former team mate Michael Owen also slammed him for missing a great opportunity.

Rooney had been under severe criticism from football pundits and fans alike as he struggled for form. Last month, he himself admitted that he was no longer the first choice for club or country. He was dropped by England manager Gareth Southgate for World Cup qualifier against Slovenia.
Rooney had said it was a difficult period for him.

“It’s football. He has got 23 players to select from. I’ve played 13 years non-stop for England and given everything and the time comes when you are not the first name on the team sheet,” Reuters quoted him as saying.

“Of course, you want to be on the pitch but my role as captain won’t change off the pitch. I will be supporting the players 100 percent, and hopefully we can get the win.”

In football it happens. Fans have high expectations. Wayne Rooney will make a strong comeback and will fulfill the expectations of his fans.
