Watch: Harmanpreet Kaur’s One-Handed Blinder Has Got Twitterati Talking

Harmanpreet Kaur pulled off a catch which will be watched by cricket fans on loop over the years

India’s T20I skipper Harmanpreet Kaur set an example for her teammates with a jaw-dropping catch in the 6th match against England.

In the 17th over of England’s first innings, lower order batter Danielle Hazell’s desperate attempt to hit a six did not go her way. Hazell came down the wicket to hit Anuja Patil’s second delivery of the over but could not time the ball as it went straight up into the air.

Harmanpreet came running from the long off position. As the ball was about to land on the ground, Harmanpreet dived and tried to get two hands on the ball but ended up taking a one-handed stunner.

Here’s the video of the catch –

A few days before she emphasised on the need of improved fitness and agility of the players in the field. Barring the last game of the tri-series for India, their fielding throughout the tournament was mediocre and one of the reasons for their early exit from the race to the final.

Here’s what the 29-year-old had to say about the win,

This win would play a big role as we’ve won after eight games. It was a great effort by us in the field and that is what we spoke about; glad to have executed it well. I always enjoy my fielding, but everyone contributed today.

India won the T20 by 8 wickets riding high on opener Smriti Mandhana’s half-century. Mandhana scored 62 runs from 41 balls with the help of 8 fours and 1 six. She has been one of the positives for India in the tournament rising as an attacking batter in the top order.

Earlier, Indian spinners made a terrific comeback after the bashing they faced in the form of Danielle Wyatt in the previous match. The Indian bowlers did not let Australians off the hook, especially the spinners. Anuja Patil picked up three wickets whereas Radha Yadav, Deepti Sharma and Poonam Yadav picked up one wicket each.

The bowling effort helped India restrict England to a modest total of 107 as they were bundled out with 7 balls to spare. Despite the loss, England will play Australia in the final of the tri-series on March 31.
