Virender Sehwag urges BCCI for a Women IPL and Women cricketer Vanitha VR couldn’t agree more!

Virender Sehwag once again was not afraid to share his viewpoint on a topic other cricketers have refrained from talking about as he urges BCCI to launch an IPL-like league from women

Yes, you read that right, Virender Sehwag has urged Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for a replica of Indian Premier League (IPL) for women cricket. This all started as India’s women cricket team made history against Ireland Women by recording the highest opening partnership in the history of Women’s ODI cricket. The two openers involved in the record-breaking partnership are Deepti Sharma and Poonam Raut who scored 188 and 109 respectively.

The former Indian fiery opener Sehwag tweeted in awe as soon as he got the news of Deepti-Poonam’s record-breaking partnership. To this, a Twitter user, Udita Dutta tweeted whether BCCI would give any awards or rewards to the players like they give to Indian Men’s team.

Congratulations #DeeptiSharma and #PoonamRaut for a record 320 run opening partnership. The girls played really well. Waah ! pic.twitter.com/Rzr1DV3fzq

Sehwag was quick enough to reply to it as he almost asked a revolutionary question from BCCI, asking them that it is high time they initiate an IPL-like league for women cricketers similar to Cricket Australia’s Women’s Big Bash League. He also hopes that BCCI give them a gift quickly.

I think it’s high time we have a Women’s IPL ,just like they have Big Bash for women in Australia. Hope @BCCI gives this gift quickly. https://t.co/KODnb1WgHt

As soon as India’s women cricketer Vellaswamy Ramu Vanitha saw this tweet, she replied to it ecstatically commending Sehwag’s effort to urge BCCI and calling it a great effort. Vanitha has played 16 T20Is for India scoring at an average of average of 14.40 and an impressive strike rate of 109.09.

Great suggestion @virendersehwag sir ji https://t.co/x17XKsbrT7

A women’s IPL might work wonders for the women cricketers as it will be a decent source of earnings for them which has been an issue in the recent times. It will work as a platform for young women cricketers to prove themselves and earn a berth in India’s women squad.
