Virat Kohli’s Sri Lankan fan from Under-19 days steals the show in his wedding reception

Gayan Senanayake was the only Sri Lankan invited to Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma's wedding reception in Mumbai on December 26

Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma continue to make headlines as pictures of their Mumbai reception poured in on Tuesday night. Kohli, who has often been slammed for his arrogance on field, gained brownie points for inviting his fan from Sri Lanka — Gayan Senanayake — to his wedding reception in Mumbai on December 26. Photos of Senanayake with Kohli and Sharma went viral as soon as they surfaced online.

In an interview with India Today at the wedding reception, Senanayake talked about the bond he shares with Kohli. According to the fan, he has known Kohli from his Under-19 days when he came to Sri Lanka before the World Cup where he captained the team and led them to victory. Since then, they have stayed in touch.

Later, Senanayake met other cricketers, including Sachin Tendulkar, Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav and Jasprit Bumrah, as well and clicked a few photos. Kuldeep has even gifted his jersey to the Sri Lankan fan.

During the recently-concluded Sri Lanka tour of India, three Sri Lankan fans — Gayan Senanayake, Pubudu and Mohamed Nilam — were always seen present in the stands.
