Bangladeshi opener Tamim Iqbal has denied all reports that claimed he cut short his Essex stint due to an acid attack on his family in England. There were reports making the rounds that Tamim Iqbal was racially abused at a restaurant in England. He was hired to play eight matches for Essex County Club in the T20 Natwest Blast. He played just one match against Kent and returned home. There were reports making the rounds that it was due to an acid attack that he returned home. But, recently in a Facebook post he denies the claim and instead says that he was compelled to leave due to personal problems. We really do not know as of now what the problem is but this is the fact.
Tamim Iqbal has been enjoying the form of his life after some big runs at the Champions Trophy where he started the campaign with a 133* and his consistency helped Bangladesh progress to the semi-finals of the ICC event. The 28-year old Tamim was in England with his family that comprised of his wife Ayesha and his 3-year old son.
Earlier, Essex County Club gave an official statement said, “Essex County Cricket Club can confirm that overseas player Tamim Iqbal has left the club with immediate effect due to personal reasons,” the statement read. “We wish him all the best, and it would be appreciated if Tamim’s privacy is respected during this time.”

This is what his clarification statement read, “I want all my fans and well wishers to know that I cut short my season with Essex to come back home early for personal reasons. Some media reported that we were the target of attempted hate crime. This is really not true. England is one my of favorite places to play cricket and Essex have been entirely gracious even though I had to leave early. I thank all my fans and well wishers for their concern and messages and look forward to going back to England for future matches.”
