Shahid Afridi still killing it after retirement, bags a 4-fer and scores 37 off 17 balls in BPL 2017 — WATCH

Shahid Afridi's all-round play made the match too easy for Dhaka Dynamites as they recorded a thumping win over Sylhet SIxers

Shahid Afridi called it quits to his international cricket earlier this year but is still one of the most lethal all-rounders in the shortest format. Former Pakistan batsman turned the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) match between Dhaka Dynamites and Sylhet Sixers upside down with his all-rounder performance. The 37-year-old first caused a major batting collapse, taking 4 wickets for just 12 runs in his full quota of 4 overs. That was followed by a lightning-quick start he gave to Dhaka Dynamites’ innings scoring 37 runs from just 17 balls.

Afridi came to bowl in the last over of the powerplay overs. Sylhet Sixers were already struggling 4 for 29. Afridi did not let the middle order recover by taking 4 wickets. The right-handed batsmen Nasir Hossain and Sri Lankan batsman Wanidu Hasaranga tried to play against the spin but ended up miscuing it to the fielder. England batsman Tim Bresnan found the long off fielder with precision whereas Nurul Hasan played an awkward reverse scoop shot and threw away his wicket.

Sylhet Sixers could only score a lowly total of 101 in the first innings. Dhaka Dynamites were expected to chase down the total with ease but they rushed towards the target. Afridi opened with Windies batsman Evin Lewis and decimated the bowling attack. The all-rounder struck five towering sixes and one four with his strike rate clocking at 217.65. He got out in the 5th over but also got his team into a position from where they could not lose.

Lewis and Shakib Al Hasan took the Dynamites to an easy victory as they chased down the target with 73 balls to spare. Afridi recently scored his career’s first T20 century in NatWest T20 Blast. He has retired from international cricket but is still lethal in T20 leagues.
