Sachin, Ashwin are with the Indian armed forces this Diwali, what about you?

Here's why our soldiers are the nation's pride

After Virender Sehwag and Virat Kohli’s emotional messages, social media seems to be flooded with tributes from other sporting heroes. The recent ones to thank the armed forces for their contributions include cricketers Ravichandran Ashwin, Sachin Tendulkar, Mohammad Kaif and boxer Vijender Singh. Each, in their unique way, thanked the soldiers for the unconditional sacrifices made by them.

Ashwin invited the soldiers for a cup of coffee, Sachin offered special prayers, Kaif wants everyone to light a lamp thinking about soldiers while Vijender wholeheartedly dedicated the festival to the brave forces.

Ashwin, in his video post said, “Namaste, Diwali ke ye sunehre afsar par aap sab ko hardik shubhkamnayein. Mein aur sab log khushiyaan mana rahe hai magar aise bhi log hai jinke liye Diwali ke din bhi koi chutti nahin hai. Aaj wo humari suraksha kar rahe hai isliye har ghar mein diye jal rahe. Mein un bahadur bhaiyon aur beheno ko salaam karta hun. Happy Diwali to the Indian armed forces. Meine aaj do cup ki coffee banayi hai, ek mere liye aur ek unke yaad mein… kisi din milke piyenge.”

(“Greetings, my best wishes to everyone on the occasion of Diwali. I and along with me, many people are celebrating the festival with friends and family but there are people who are working even on Diwali. They are protecting us and that is the reason why we are able to light lamps freely at our homes. I want to salute to those brave brothers and sisters of mine. Happy Diwali to the Indian armed forces. I made two cups of coffee today. One is for me and the other one is for our soldiers. Someday, we will drink it together.”)

Sachin conveyed his wishes by saying, “Namashkar mere fauji bhaiyon. Is Diwali ke shubh afsar par, aapke dono parivaar ko shubhkamnayein dena chahunga. Ek aapka fauji parivaar aur dusre aapke ghar waale. Mein ye bhagwan se prathna karta hun ki bhagwan aapko sahi salamat rakhe aur aapko dher saari khushiyaan de. Jai Hind.”

(“Greetings to my brothers in the armed forces. On the auspicious occasion of Diwali, I want to convey my wishes to both of your families. One big family is the armed forces of our country and the other is your personal. I pray to God that he keeps you all safe and blesses you with immense happiness. Jai Hind. Happy Diwali.”)
