Para-Athlete Deepa Malik Seals Asian Top Spot In Discus Throw

Following this feat, Deepa has qualified for the 2018 Asian Para Games

Deepa Malik, an Indian para-athlete, has once again made India proud after she secured top spot in the discus throw Asia Ranking 53 category and second place in the Asian Games combined category event 51/52/53 with a career-best throw of 8.01 meters on Day 2 of the ongoing World Para Athletics Grand Prix 2018 in Dubai.

Following this feat, Deepa has qualified for the 2018 Asian Para Games to be held in Jakarta, Indonesia from October 8-16, 2018.

Deepa shared this news with her fans on her Twitter handle. She wrote:

Malik, 46, won a silver medal in the shot put event of the 2016 Paralympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, becoming the first Indian woman medallist at the quadrennial Games.

Impressed with her performance, the Indian government conferred her with the prestigious Padma Shri award in 2017. She has won 58 national and 18 international medals across all disciplines till date.
