Kyle Hope, Ambris earn maiden ODI call-ups for remaining 3 One Day Internationals vs India

West Indies v India: The duo came in at the expense of Jonathan Carter and Kesrick Williams in Cricket West Indies' 13-man squad named on Tuesday

West Indies, the hosts are already trailing the 5-match One Day International series against India. The first ODI was washed out and then India won the second ODI in a convincing manner by 105 runs to take a lead in the series earlier on. In order to get their show back on track, they are bidding to infuse young blood into the team. So, two debutantes Kyle Hope, Ambris are in all probability going to feature for West Indies in the remainder of the series. The duo came in at the expense of Jonathan Carter and Kesrick Williams in Cricket West Indies’ 13-man squad named on Tuesday.

The talk on the other camp is that young southpaw Rishabh Pant could also make a debut. He has shown glimpses that he could take over the wicketkeepers mantle from MS Dhoni.

Ambris was the seventh-best run-scorer in that tournament with 608 runs at 43.42.

“Sunil Ambris and Kyle Hope are two very promising young batsmen who have been selected on the basis of strong performances in our competitions,” Courtney Browne, Cricket West Indies’ chairman of selectors, said according to ESPNCrincinfo.

“Kyle opened on our last A team one-day tour to Sri Lanka and had some very good performances. In addition, he also had a good showing opening the batting for the Trinidad & Tobago Red Force franchise in this year’s PCL competition.

“Sunil did well in our Regional Super50 One-Day tournament and also had a good showing in this year’s PCL first-class tournament for Windward Islands Volcanoes, and therefore will fit within our middle order. They will be up against a good Indian team and they have an opportunity to show their skills and contribute to a stronger team performance,” he added.

Feeling happy and proud for Sunil Ambris. I just found out he’s finally rewarded for his outstanding performances… https://t.co/ag6LU8FxQj
