‘It’s not the end of road for me’, Ravindra Jadeja on competition from Kuldeep, Chahal

Jadeja last played in limited overs game for India in July 2017 against West Indies in a T20I match

Star Indian spinner Ravindra Jadeja has been out of the limited overs cricket for a pretty long time now. Though he is still considered as one of the key spinners of India in whites, the recent performances from wrist spinners Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav have left the selectors with no option but to snub him. He was in the Test series against South Africa, but was benched for the entire series. Recently, he opened up on being ousted from the team and stated that getting into the Indian side is not that easy.

According to several media reports, during an interview, Jadeja said,

“It’s very tough to make into the Indian team now. But, at the same time, it’s good to have a healthy competition. It makes you push your limits and keeps you improving as a good cricketer.”

He went on to appreciate the performance of the Indian wrist spinners, saying:

“They [Chhal and Kuldeep] have been doing a great job in ODIs. They have got the variations naturally and can move the ball away from or towards the batter. This is not easy for finger spinners on every wicket but that doesn’t mean that it’s an end for the spinners like me.”

Currently, the 29-year-old spinner from Gujarat is working hard to get back to the Indian dressing room in the blue uniform, and also working on his batting skills. He said,

“Yes, I am aware that it is another fresh challenge to perform really well in every event I compete — be it Vijay Hazare Trophy, IPL or any tournament that I play. I don’t take pressure by thinking too much. I look at every single match as a huge opportunity. I am confident about my skills.”
