IPL Final: Rohit Sharma on excluding Harbhajan Singh: It was a tactical move

IPL Final, Rohit Sharma: Harbhajan Singh had scalped 8 wickets in the 11 matches that he played this season. He bowled with an economy of 6.48 in the season

Rohit Sharma, captain of Mumbai Indians is on cloud 9 for certain after clinching the Indian Premier League for the third time. It has been a year to remember for the Mumbai Indians outfit also for the emergence of young stars like Karn Sharma, Nitish Rana, the Pandyas and of course Bumrah. It has been a delight to watch the India’s upcoming talent take on international stars like they did. All said and done, it was a year MI supporters will not forget soon. The veteran offie Harbhajan Singh too had a decent season, may be he was expecting a team India call-up which did not happen, but he has been in good form.

Harbhajan Singh was not played in the all-important finals and that raised eyebrows. From the outside there were also talks making the rounds that there has been a tiff between Rohit and Harbhajan, but quashing all that under the carpet Rohit Sharma has finally cleared the air. He said, “We’ve mentioned this previously. It was a tactical change, nothing related to performance and things like that. I don’t know why you’re asking this again.”

So, by saying this Rohit Sharma did manage to put this controversy to rest. Singh had scalped 8 wickets in the 11 matches that he played this season. He bowled with an economy of 6.48 in the season and the number stands out as it is the shortest format where you are expected to go for runs. Singh also bowled in the powerplays as and when Rohit asked him to, showing his class.
